Who Can Apply For A CSCS Card?

Almost anyone in the construction field can apply for a CSCS card.

However, the type you apply for will depend on your qualifications and experience level, as each card has its own set of requirements.

How To Apply For A CSCS Card

Applying for a CSCS card is straightforward.

First, you’ll need to pass a health and safety test. Then, pick the right card for your qualifications and experience, and apply.

We offer CSCS tests and CSCS cards with many of our NVQ qualifications.

If you do not hold a CSCS card and need one in a hurry, you can obtain a temporary (Red) CSCS card when you sign up for a course with Train4Growth.

This can usually be delivered to you within 10 working days, following successful completion of the Health and Safety test!

How Much Does A CSCS Card Cost

There’s a fee for the CSCS card and the health and safety test.

At Train 4 Growth, we streamline the CSCS application process for you. Many of our qualifications include both the CSCS tests and the CSCS Cards.

You can take our CSCS tests in any quiet location, supervised by our expert assessors.

We will take your photograph for the card and manage the entire application process, along with your qualification registration, saving you time and hassle.

However, if you’d prefer to go down the traditional route, CSCS Tests at Pearson centres are priced at £22 (as of March 2022). You can book these at any local test centre by creating an account here. You can also apply for a CSCS card on the CSCS website, at a cost of £36 (as of November 2023).

It’s important to remember that CSCS cards aren’t forever. They need renewing, usually every five years. Stay ahead of the game to keep your career on track.

What Is The Connection Between CSCS Cards and NVQs?

NVQs and CSCS cards are two sides of the same coin in the construction industry, providing a comprehensive framework that assures competence, safety, and compliance.

At Train 4 Growth, we facilitate this crucial connection, helping you to navigate your trade career path with ease and confidence.

Let’s explore how these NVQs and CSCS cards complement each other:

  • Basic Requirement: Many CSCS cards require you to have an NVQ in a relevant construction-related field. This is because NVQs provide the practical and theoretical knowledge essential in the construction industry. That’s where we come in. We offer CSCS tests and cards with many of our qualifications. It’s a win-win: get your NVQ and the CSCS card in one go!
  • Ensure Competence and Safety: NVQs train you in the specific skills and safety measures needed for various construction roles. Holding an NVQ demonstrates to employers and site managers that you have the necessary expertise to work safely and effectively.</li
  • Enhanced Career Opportunities: Possessing both an NVQ and a CSCS card significantly boosts your employability. It shows potential employers that you are not only qualified, but also recognised by the CSCS scheme, which is a standard requirement in the UK construction industry.
  • Catering to Various Levels: Whether you are just starting or are an experienced worker, there’s an NVQ and a corresponding CSCS card for you. This pathway ensures that as your skills and experience grow, your credentials can keep pace.
  • Simplifying Compliance: For construction sites that mandate CSCS cards, having your NVQ simplifies the process of obtaining and renewing your CSCS card, ensuring you remain compliant with industry regulations.
