On-Site NVQs for Wall & Floor Tilers
If you already work as a wall and floor tiler, an NVQ can give you a recognised qualification based on the skills you use every day.
Train 4 Growth offers Level 2 and Level 3 Wall & Floor Tiling NVQs, with assessment based on real workplace activity rather than regular classroom attendance.
The right level depends on the type of tiling work you carry out, your experience and the level of responsibility involved in your role.
Which Wall & Floor Tiling NVQ Do You Need?
Both qualifications are designed for people who are already carrying out suitable tiling work. The main difference is the level and complexity of the work you need to demonstrate.
Wall & Floor Tiling NVQ Level 2
The Level 2 NVQ is suitable for working tilers carrying out routine wall and floor tiling. It covers areas such as preparing backgrounds, setting out work and fixing tiles safely and correctly.
Completing the relevant Level 2 qualification can support progression to the Blue CSCS Skilled Worker Card, subject to the current CSCS test and application requirements.
Wall & Floor Tiling NVQ Level 3
The Level 3 NVQ is aimed at experienced tilers carrying out more specialist or complex work. This can include tiled, mosaic and stone surface finishes, along with greater responsibility for planning and organising work.
The Level 3 qualification is recognised for the relevant Gold CSCS Skilled Worker Card route for Wall & Floor Tilers, subject to the current CSCS requirements.
If you are not sure which level matches your current role, Train 4 Growth can check the work you carry out and help you choose the correct qualification.

How Are Wall & Floor Tiling NVQs Assessed?
These qualifications are assessed through the tiling work you already carry out. You do not need to attend regular classroom sessions or sit traditional written exams.
Your assessor will gather evidence of your competence through methods such as workplace observations, professional discussions, photographs, job records and other evidence from real projects.
