The NVQ Level 6 Construction Site Management qualification sits at the same qualification level as a bachelor’s degree, including a degree with honours.
You can get your skills recognised through the site management work you already do. You keep working while you complete the qualification.
Is a Level 6 NVQ the Same as a Degree?
You gain an NVQ diploma, rather than a BA or BSc. Both qualifications sit at Level 6, but their content, assessment and length can differ.
Your NVQ focuses on how you manage construction work. You show how you plan jobs, lead teams and deal with site problems.
Here’s how the levels compare:
| Qualification | Level |
|---|---|
| HNC | 4 |
| HND | 5 |
| Bachelor’s degree | 6 |
| NVQ in Construction Site Management | 6 |
If a job or course asks for a degree, check whether it accepts your NVQ.

Is NVQ Level 6 Construction Site Management Right for You?
You need to be doing the job already. That means managing site activities, people, resources, quality and health and safety.
Your job title alone is not enough. You must have the responsibilities needed to show you meet the qualification requirements.
At Train 4 Growth, you do not need a degree or a lower level NVQ first. We check your current role before you enrol to make sure the qualification fits your work.
How Is Your Level 6 NVQ Assessed?
Your assessor checks the work you do and the decisions you make. You build a collection of evidence, such as site records, work programmes and meeting notes.
Assessment also includes watching you work and talking through how you manage your site.
There are no classroom lessons or written exams with T4G. Your assessor explains what evidence you need and supports you through the process.
How Long Does a Level 6 NVQ Take?
Most T4G learners complete their Level 6 NVQ in 9 to 18 months.
Your timescale depends on your responsibilities, workload and access to suitable evidence. We help you set realistic targets around your site management work.

Does Level 6 NVQ Construction Site Management Lead to a CSCS Black Card?
The right Level 6 NVQ Construction Site Management pathway can meet the qualification requirement for relevant CSCS Black Manager Card occupations.
You also need to have passed the CITB Managers and Professionals Health, Safety and Environment test within the two years before you apply.
Your CSCS Black Card is not awarded automatically. Your qualification must match your occupation, and you must meet the current CSCS requirements before applying.

Can Your Level 6 NVQ Help You Progress?
Your NVQ gives you recognised evidence of your site management skills to show employers.
It can also support a route towards Chartered Membership of the Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB). You’ll need at least three years of relevant construction management experience and must pass CIOB’s Professional Review.
If you move into wider senior management responsibilities, a Level 7 NVQ may be a suitable next step.
