NVQ Level 1 qualifications

NVQ Level 1

The Level 1 Award in Health & Safety Awareness is appropriate for individuals working in the Construction Sector and who are looking to become eligible for the Green CSCS Card (Labourer) in order that they can access the site to work and carry out basic duties. (CSCS Test and Card not included)

These construction qualifications are aimed at developing a good basic knowledge and understanding of health and safety principles and procedures in construction.

The courses are delivered via distance learning. Candidates will be issued a workbook containing a number of questions that must be completed to a satisfactory standard using the provided learning resources and information sources. Candidates are advised to use the provided resources along with their own research to ensure that answers are individual and sufficient.

Each candidate will be allocated a designated and qualified assessor to provide support throughout the qualification and provide information, advice and guidance to candidates in order that they can achieve the qualification.

On completion of this qualification you will achieve the ProQual L1 Award in Health & Safety Awareness in a Construction Environment and your certificate will be delivered to your home via post.

NVQ Level 2

For the skilled worker, the NVQ level 2 is available in many trades and sectors. Every learner will be allocated an industry experienced, dedicated assessor who will support and guide you through the assessment process to ensure that you are informed and motivated to complete the course in good time.

Level 2 courses comprise a combination of knowledge tasks and on-site observation.

The knowledge tasks are a series of questions and answers. The questions are accessed via an online e-portfolio which gives your assessor real time access to your work in order that it can be reviewed, assessed and feedback issued as soon as it has been completed. Alternatively, the traditional paper-based delivery system can be used for those who prefer to do so.

Observed knowledge is captured during observations in the work place where work product such as quality information, contract documentation and CDM relevant documentation will be inspected along with observation of the general day to day activity in order to acquire the relevant criteria.

Who should apply for a level 2 NVQ course?

NVQ Level 2 qualifications are designed for candidates who are above 16 years of age and have a relevant or related role in the specific course subject area within the construction sector and are looking to obtain their Blue CSCS Card/ Skilled Worker Card.

Course length:

The course length is dependent on how quickly the candidate can gather the required course evidence.

NVQ Level 3

Courses comprise a combination of knowledge tasks and on-site observation.

The knowledge tasks are a series of questions and answers. Who should apply for a level 3 NVQ course?

NVQ Level 3 qualifications are designed for candidates who are experienced and advanced in their role, specifically related to the course subject area and are looking to obtain their Gold CSCS/ Advanced Craft Card.

NVQ Level 3

The NVQ level 3 Occupational Work Supervision (OWS) is designed for candidates who are currently lead installers, gangers, working foremen or work supervisors and are looking to obtain their Gold CSCS/ Advanced Craft Card or looking to make steps towards progression into Construction Management qualifications such as level 4 Construction Site Supervision and level 6 Construction Site Management (or equivalent).

On completion of the Level 3 NVQ course, you can apply for your Gold CSCS/ Advanced Craft Card.

Course length:

The course length is dependent on how quickly the candidate can gather the required course evidence. The average time to complete this course is between 3 and 6 months.

Course length:
