Upon completion of the qualification, you will be awarded the NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Fenestration Installations.

  • Installers working in domestic or commercial properties.

You don’t need to sit in a classroom or take time off-site. You’ll be assessed while you work, at your own pace, by one of our experienced assessors.

To achieve the full NVQ Level 2 in Fenestration Installation, you’ll need to complete:

Mandatory Units

  • Maintain Health and Safety in the Fenestration Installation Working Environment
  • Communicating and Working with Others in the Glass and Related Working Environments
  • Locate, Transport, Handle and Position Materials and Components in Fenestration Installation
  • Identify and Confirm Installation Requirements in Glass and Related Work

Optional Units – Group 1 (minimum 11 credits)

  • Prepare and Shape Fenestration Installation Products and Materials
  • Prepare the Site, Equipment and Tools for Fenestration Installation
  • Remove Existing Windows and Doors and Prepare Apertures
  • Prepare and Position Window and Door Units Ready for Installation
  • Install Glass and/or Panels into Windows and Doors

Optional Units – Group 2 (minimum 8 credits)

  • Install Conservatories
  • Install Windows and Doors

Optional Units – Group 3 (minimum 3 credits)

  • Maintain/Repair Windows and Doors or Conservatories
  • Post Installation Activity for Windows, Doors or Conservatories

Optional Units – Group 4 (minimum 3 credits)

  • Understanding the Building Regulations in the Fenestration Industry
  • Knowledge of Building Regulations in the Installation of Windows and Doors

All assessments are completed through workplace observation, portfolio evidence, and professional discussion with your assessor.

NVQ Level 2 Qualifications enable you to claim your Blue CSCS Card.

Progression from level 2 qualifications could include the role of the lead installer, ganger or work supervisor and lead to level 3 Supervisory qualifications that enable you to claim your Gold CSCS Card on completion.

Once you complete your NVQ Level 2 in Window Fitting, you can apply for the Blue CSCS Skilled Worker Card. This card proves you’re a trained installer and helps you access a wider range of jobs in the construction and fenestration industries.

If you’re currently using a Labourer (Green) CSCS Card, this qualification is a great step up.

Most people complete it in around 3–6 months, depending on experience and how quickly you can gather your evidence.
