Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)
IIRSM & Institute of Hospitality Approved
This course provides essential knowledge about the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) and is designed for anyone who may come into contact with hazardous substances in the workplace. It is equally beneficial for line managers who oversee employees working with such materials.
So, what are “Substances Hazardous to Health”?
Legally, these are substances classified as “very toxic, toxic, harmful, corrosive, or irritant” under the Classification, Labelling, and Packaging (CLP) Regulation. This regulation, introduced in January 2009, works alongside another set of guidelines called REACH.
REACH, which stands for Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation, and Restriction of Chemicals, is a European Union regulation implemented on 1st June 2007. Its primary goal is to safeguard human health and the environment by regulating the use of chemicals. This course will help you understand your responsibilities under these regulations and how to manage hazardous substances effectively.
