Asbestos Awareness Training Course Overview
IATP, IIRSM & CPD Approved
Asbestos is widely recognised as one of the most hazardous materials ever used in construction. Thousands of people continue to suffer serious health consequences, including fatal illnesses, due to asbestos exposure, despite its widespread use only ceasing around the year 2000.
The Control of Asbestos Regulations (CAR) apply to employers, employees, the self-employed, and duty holders, covering all activities involving asbestos-containing materials (ACMs). According to Regulation 10 of CAR, employers are legally required to provide adequate information, instruction, and training to any employee who may come into contact with asbestos. This includes maintenance staff and anyone else who might disturb ACMs.
This course not only highlights the dangers associated with asbestos but also teaches participants how to identify asbestos-containing materials, where asbestos was commonly used, and the measures that can be taken to minimise the risks. The course also provides a clear overview of the relevant legislation governing asbestos work.
Each module concludes with a series of multiple-choice questions. To pass, candidates must achieve a score of 100%, with up to three attempts available. Participants can review their answers before submitting their final responses.

This Asbestos Awareness course is particularly suitable for architects and designers, providing an additional module specifically addressing their responsibilities when working on buildings that may contain asbestos.
