What is a CITB course?2025-07-11T15:39:55+01:00

CITB (Construction Industry Training Board) courses are nationally recognised training programmes designed to improve health and safety awareness and management skills in the construction industry. They are a key requirement on many construction sites across the UK.

What’s the difference between SSSTS and SMSTS?2025-07-11T15:38:43+01:00

SSSTS is designed for site supervisors, while SMSTS is aimed at site managers. Both cover health and safety legislation, but the SMSTS goes into more depth, including planning and managing site-wide safety.

How long are the certificates valid for?2025-07-11T15:38:15+01:00

SSSTS and SMSTS certificates are valid for five years. After this, you must complete a refresher course before the expiry date to remain certified.

Can I take these courses online?2025-07-11T15:37:51+01:00

Yes — we offer both in-person and remote options, depending on your schedule and location. All remote training is delivered live with a qualified instructor.

What happens if I let my certificate expire?2025-07-11T15:37:27+01:00

If your SSSTS or SMSTS certificate has expired, you’ll need to retake the full course. Refresher courses are only available for certificates still in date.

Do I need any previous qualifications to take a CITB course?2025-07-11T15:37:02+01:00

No formal qualifications are required. However, a good understanding of spoken and written English is important, especially for the SMSTS course. The refresher courses require a valid, in-date certificate from the original course.

Will I get a certificate?2025-07-11T15:35:28+01:00

Yes. Once you successfully complete your course and pass the assessment, you’ll receive a CITB Site Safety Plus certificate, which is widely recognised across the construction industry.
