On-Site NVQs for Plant and Lifting Operatives
Plant and lifting operations are essential on busy construction sites. From moving materials safely to supporting cranes and lifting equipment, these roles keep projects running smoothly and help maintain safe working conditions. Qualified operatives are always in demand, especially on larger commercial and civil engineering jobs.
If you’ve built up experience on site but haven’t gained your NVQ yet, an on-site assessment gives you the qualification you need without taking time away from work. There’s no classroom learning and no written exams — everything is assessed while you carry out your normal duties.
The NVQs below support key roles within plant and lifting operations.
NVQ Options for Plant and Lifting Operations
These NVQs cover a wide range of site activities, including telehandler use, plant operations, slinging and signalling, banksman duties, and supporting lifting equipment. Each qualification is assessed through real work evidence, giving you a straightforward way to gain a recognised qualification and apply for the Blue CSCS Skilled Worker Card where required.
Completing your NVQ helps you meet site requirements, improves safety on the job and gives you more opportunities on larger projects.
